A judge of Ontario sentenced a person who convicted his ex -girlfriend’s second degree in jail without parole eligibility for 18 years.
The case is one of the dozens affected by the alleged violations of the rights of the mapleharst reformer complex prisoners during their chaos in the convenience in Milton, Onts.
The court heard that Linwal Richie broke into a basement apartment in Brampton, where Vanessa Virzioni lived with her seven -year -old son on the morning of 18 June 2022.
Ontario Superior Court Justice Jennifer Wulcomb said in his judgment that Richie killed a 29 -year -old woman by trying to reduce her.
He was arrested later that day and two years later convicted for killing a second degree.
Raksha for Richie asked the court to consider his treatment in the mapleharst in the sentence, and asked that his parole disqualification period be shortened to 10 years.
An agreed statement of the facts in the case stated that the crisis intervention staff responded to a prisoner’s attack on a reformer officer in December 2023, by conducting strip discoveries of prisoners in Richie’s unit and having zip connections on their wrist.
The court heard that Richie was left wearing only its boxer shorts for about 37 hours.
WOLLCOMBE said during its judgment on Thursday that some charter rights of Richie were violated during the incident, but they rejected the request to reduce parole disqualification for 10 years.
Virgioni’s assassination is “factually one of the most frightening and frightening second degree murder cases” that he has faced during his decade experience as a judge, said Volkomb.
He said that the duration of disqualification should be 20 to 22 years on the basis of the circumstances of the case, but that due to violation of rights, it will reduce the period of disqualification by 18 years.
