PM’s employees say the search for a local office that meets Carney’s safety needs is going on

Ottawa – The office of Prime Minister Mark Carney says the work for the Prime Minister to find a local constituency office “well” which meets his safety requirements and is easily located for the residents of his Napian ride.

As the first report was reported by the Ottawa Citizen newspaper this week, Carney does not have its own constituency even after more than 100 days of the spring election.

The PMO says that until the local office is established, the residents of Napian can use federal services through David McGinti’s office, which is in the neighboring ride of Ottawa South.

Carney will be the last member of his own cabinet to list a local riding office at the House of Commons Directory.

Constituency offices act as a type of doormat for democracy, allowing residents to join their local elected representatives.

Members of Parliament appoint local employees in these offices that can help citizens to navigate government bureaucracy to reach federal services.
