A record number of students is accepted on university or college courses as 18 -year -old children celebrate One-level Result Day.
Hundreds of thousands of students The whole of England, Wales and Northern Ireland discovered their A-Level and AS-Level Result On Thursday morning, many people came to know if they had achieved a place on a course.
New UCAS Data suggests that 255,130 UK 18-year-old children have been accepted in university or college, compared to 243,650 in 2024, an increase of about 5 percent (4.7 percent) has been marked.
Overall, the figures show that 82 percent of those who have received their decision on Thursday morning are placed at their first choice, which is the same ratio as previous year.
Overall, the UCAS stated that 439,180 applicants have been accepted, marking more than 3 percent (3.1 percent) at 425,860 last year – the highest number of students on the result day on records.
The number of 18 -year -old children from the most disadvantaged areas in England, Wales and Northern Ireland has also increased, achieving a place. England have 35,920 accepted students from the most disadvantaged 20 percent regions, an increase of 6.4 percent from similar fields in Wales, more than 1,260, 5 percent (5.3 percent), and up to 1,060, 5.5 percent from those in Northern Ireland.
After 27.8 percent of the UK A-Level Entries, the record high number was awarded the A or A* Grade in 2024, above 27.2 percent last year, which mark the highest ratio of top grade scores outside the epidered years of 2020–22.
In 2019 – Last year when the summer examination was taken before the epidemic – 25.4 percent of the entries were awarded A or* Grade. The epidemic led the increase in top A-level and GCSE grade in 2020 and 2021, with results based on teacher assessment rather than examination.
Education Secretary Bridget Philipson on Thursday described the Examination Results Day as a “time for celebration” for the youth across the country.
He said: “Whether A-Level, T-Level or Technical and Business Qualification, I wish everyone best, and offer my heartfelt thanks to brilliant teachers, employees and parents who have supported them for this milestone.
“Every youth must have an opportunity to achieve and flourish. This government will not accept the inequalities and will not accept inequalities that continue to dissolve the possibilities of many young people, especially from the background of the white working class that has long been ignored.
“We are already taking decisive action and encouraging progress. With a high quality technical qualifications from degree apprenticeship and traditional university routes, we are giving youth to the youth that help the youth to run the economic growth as part of our plan to get them great jobs, fill talent intervals, and change.”
