Operation in Akhhal forest of Kulgam in the final phase: IGP Kashmir

Srinagar, August 13: The victim has entered his final stage for terrorists hiding in the forest area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, a top police officer said on Wednesday on the 13th day of the operation.

On August 1, two army soldiers were killed and nine were injured after the operation began in Akhhal forest area. Two terrorists have also been killed in the encounter. The identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorists has not yet been revealed.

“Akhal Operation has entered the final stage,” Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, VK Burdi asked reporters on the occasion of full dress rehearsal for the Independence Day celebrations at Bakshi Stadium here.

He said that the details of the operation will be shared at the time of time.

It is the longest anti-terror operation in the Kashmir Valley in recent years.

Burdi said that the entire dress rehearsal and security drills were successfully concluded before Independence Day.

The official said, “The main event takes place in the city of Srinagar, where VVIP takes the salute. For this, the Srinagar police have made multi-level arrangements with the CAPF. There are high-growth spots and proper security arrangements have been made,” the official said. (PTI)
