Landslide Block Jammu-Rajouri National Highway, Restoration work is going on

The Jammu-Rajouri National Highway was blocked on Tuesday due to landslides, bringing traffic to a stay.

Restoration work is going on to remove the debris and clean the road for vehicle movement.

Speaking to District Magistrate Annie of Chamoli district, Sandeep Tiwari said that work is going on to open the blocked road due to landslides in Nandprayag due to rain.

Officials said the bridge connecting Uttarkashi with Harsil has been rebuilt for the facility of easy movement of machinery and relief material after cloudbers and flash floods, which caused massive destruction in Dharli and Harsil in Uttarashi district on 5 August, the officials said.

A large -scale Madslide killed Dharli village in the Kheer silt area near Harsil, causing a sudden flow of debris and water through settlements on 5 August. Many houses were reported to be flowing.

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Director General of Police, Director General of Police Deepam Seth on Sunday reviewed the first phase of relief and rescue operations under the direction of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami after natural disaster in Dharli and Harshil areas of Uttara.

DGP Seth conducted a high-level review of the upcoming action plan at the police headquarters in Dehradun. All senior police officers and team leaders of various branches of police, SDRF, Fire Service, PAC, Telecom, etc. were sent to the meeting for effective conduct of relief and rescue operations in Uttarkashi district.

During the meeting, the DGP appreciated the updated information made by all officers, ADG L/O, IG PAC, IG SDRF, IG Telecom, IG Fire, IG L/O, IG SDRF, IG Garhwal Range, Dig L/O, etc., and appreciated efforts made by the forces working on the site. (AI)
