Ukraine-Russia War: Zelanski Dial PM Modi, proposed to meet him personally during UNGA in September

Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelansky on Monday held a detailed discussion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on major issues related to bilateral cooperation and the ongoing struggle with Russia.

Sharing the details in a post on X, the Ukrainian President said that the two leaders discussed extensive topics.

Zelenskyy wrote on X, “I had a long conversation with Prime Minister of India @narendramodi. We discussed in detail all important issues – both our bilateral cooperation and overall diplomatic status. I am grateful to the Prime Minister for his warm words of support for my people.”

“We agreed to plan a personal meeting in September during the United Nations General Assembly and work on the exchange of trips,” he said.

This conversation is amid growing stress between Russia and Ukraine, the US and other countries discovered ways to end conflict. India has maintained a balanced approach, advocating peaceful resolution, strengthening relations with both Russia and Ukraine.

The leaders also reviewed the progress in the India-Ukraine bilateral partnership and discussed ways to further enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, stated in the release. They agreed to stay in touch.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “It is a pleasure to talk with President Zelanski and listen to my perspectives on recent developments. I expressed India’s consistent position on the need for the early and peaceful resolution of the struggle. India is committed to make every possible contribution in this regard, as well as to strengthen bilateral ties with Ukraine.”
