Srinagar, Aug 11, KDC: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Monday, former Chairman of Board of Governors, Dr. Mourning the sudden demise of MJ Zarabi, and expressed his heartfelt condolences to his family.
The entire NIT Srinagar community, including teaching, administrative, non-teaching staff and scholars, in-charge Prof. (HAG), Rohhi Naz, Registrar, Dean, HODS and HOCS, gathered near the main fountain park for a condolence meeting. A two -minute silence was observed, and prayed for the departed soul.
In his message, director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia gave Dr. The Jarabi paid a rich tribute to him, describing him as a visionary leader and a guiding force for the institute.
“Dr. Dr Zarabi was marked as a strategic vision, educational rigidity, and real concern for institutional development as the chairman of Zarabi. His contribution to NIT Srinagar and the progress of microelectronics in India is invaluable. We are standing with our family in a time of sorrow and will continue to carry forward our vision.”
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rohi Naz said, “Dr. Jarabi’s knowledge and vision will guide us for generations. His contribution has left an indelible impression on this institution and the field of microelectronics.”
He said that as the Chairman of the Board of Governors in NIT Srinagar (November 2014 – November 2017), he brought deep technical expertise and strategic vision. He carefully held 9 board meetings and displayed a real commitment for remarkable foresight and development of the institute, “Prof. Rohoi Naaz said.
“Whatever was always about Dr. Turusi, he had the ability to combine scientific precision with human understanding. He listened, advised and encouraged. Is it a complex policy decision or a young student’s aspirations, he paid full attention,” Prof. Rohi Naz said.

Born here in Kashmir and grew up, Dr. Jarabi earned his bachelor’s degree from Jabalpur, and later his master and Ph.D. From the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore – one of the best educational institutions in our country.
His doctoral work was recognized with an alumni medal for the best thesis of the year, which was an early sign of the talent that defines his career.
Commercially, Dr. Jarabi became synonymous with India’s microelectronic journey. In the Semiconductor Complex Limited, he not only oversee advanced VLSI manufacturing, but also led the groundbreaking projects in Gallium Archenide Technology for Defense Applications, and MEMS under the National Program on Smart Materials.
These achievements put India firmly on the map in the field of advanced electronics.
