Australian Army chief Lt Gen Simon Stuart Kos General Upendra Dwivedi was called on a call, OP Sindoor and India’s security perspective

Lieutenant General Simon Stuart, head of the Australian chief army, called Kos General Upendra Dwivedi on Monday according to the Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI). He focused on deepening military-to-monsoon engagement. The head of the Australian Army was also informed on Operation Sindoor.

In a post on X, the ADG PI stated that the discussion focuses on increasing bilateral defense cooperation between India and Australia, deepening military-to-monetary engagement and strengthening shared commitment for regional stability and global peace.

“Lieutenant General Simon Stuart was also engaged in high-level discussion with senior military leaders, in which he was informed in Operation Sindoor and India’s security perspective”, said ADG Pie.

India launched Operation Sindor on 7 May on 7 April as a decisive military response to the Pahgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. The Indian armed forces targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Jammu and Kashmir, killing more than 100 terrorists.

India canceled later Pakistani vengeance and increased its airbase.

Lt Gen Simon Stuart, head of the Australian Army, who has been visiting India from 10–14 August, received a formal guard of honor in the national capital here on Monday.

In particular, Lieutenant General Stuart has a common history with Indian Army chief Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, trained simultaneously at the United States Army War College in 2015. According to an official statement by the Indian Army, this experience created a professional bond which matured with his respective career.

In recent years, the India-Australia relations have created a new trajectory of transformational development.

The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) mentioned in a statement that bilateral cooperation has seen a rapid growth in existing framework of cooperation and expanded a wide spectrum of new areas, opening new possibilities, both bilateral and global levels.
