Scottish fire service full statement

A scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokesperson said: “We were alerted on Sunday, August 10 at 4.05 pm, which was for reporting an open fire in Arthur’s seat, Edinburgh.

“Operations control raised four fire equipment and expert resources in the area where firefighting is working to extinguish the fire affecting a large area of Gors.

“There are no reported casualties at this time and the crews live on the spot.”

The frightened eyewitness told about spreading flames because he reached the hill down

A frightened eyewitness has stated that he has spread as flames, while he made his way under Arthur’s seat.

“Suddenly we started coming up with these flames and people saw that it was spreading rapidly.

“The creation of smoke actually started and then these flames started covering the ridge and we realized that the wind was blowing it towards us.

“We had to get on the road fast because it was about to come in the entire region.”

Mr. Bryce said that they urge people who were still going on the hill.

He said: “Now the entire hill is covered in flames and we are coming down on the path we walk.”
