Budgam police conducts enforcement campaign against banned literature

Budgam, August 07 (KDC): In strict compliance with the recent instructions issued by the Government of Home Department, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, about the confiscation of literature, the district police Budgam today launched a comprehensive enforcement drive in the district.

As part of the operation, all police stations/police posts in the district conducted amazing inspections in bookstores, roadside vendors and other establishments working in printed publications. The purpose of the drive was to identify and delete any literature or printed material that can potentially promote fanaticism, glorify terrorism, distort historical facts, or increase security forces.

Operation is part of a large preventive strategy to prevent the spread of divisive and extremist ideologies that pose a threat to the nation’s peace, security and integrity. Special focus was on identification of publications that were previously flagged off to glorify terrorist activities or to provoke communal or regional sentiments.

District Police Budgam reiterated his unwavering commitment to maintain peace, law and public system in the region. The police urge all shopkeepers, publishers, distributors and the general public to cooperate to ensure that such literature is neither sold nor broadcast.

Citizens are encouraged to be vigilant and report any example of occupation, distribution or circulation of restricted or suspected literature at the nearest police station.

This drive is a part of the broad mission to be influenced by the brain of the youth to be influenced by misleading and extremist materials and creating a safe, notified and harmonious society.
