Can not be punished for past mistakes: Sakina Itu in Poonch

Health and Medical Education Minister, Saqina Itu said on Monday that he could not be held accountable to the issues created by others in the past.

“I am not Sham Lal, I am Sakina Itu. I cannot be punished for a sin, which I have not done,” Sakina said while talking to reporters in Poonch according to the news agency -Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

He removed himself from allegations of negligence during the previous regime. “I can only speak for the time when our government has taken over. We are trying to resolve issues based on the availability of money. Whatever is in our hands,” he said.

ITOO also criticized the inauguration of hospitals with only name boards and no real infrastructure. “Existing hospitals are facing serious infrastructure and staffing issues. If there is a lack of doctors, facilities and treatment, there is no point in opening a trauma hospital. I am against the hospital idea without infrastructure,” he said.

Highlighting the situation of infrastructure infrastructure, he said, “There are no appropriate buildings for some hospitals and schools. It takes time to build them. But I cannot be convicted for the things that I did not share.”

He also mentioned the viral video of Lohi Malhar region, which attracted the Prime Minister’s attention during the ‘Maan Ki Baat’ episode. He said, “Despite being mentioned by the PM, nothing was returned. But after taking charge, the funds have been released and work has been started. If the PM maintains a commitment, we will fulfill it,” he said.

Accepting the shortage of teachers in Jammu and Kashmir, Sakina said that no recruitment has been done since 2018 due to a freeze on the post. “However, the government is now working on promotion, recruitment, rationalism of DPC and employees. Efforts are being made to strengthen the education system,” he said (KNO)
