Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Shibu Soren died on Monday morning after a prolonged illness at the age of 81 in New Delhi.
The Chief Minister of Jharkhand and his son Hemen Soren confirmed the death of the leader in a post on X.
Hement Soren said, “The respected dish Guruji has left us all. Today, I have been destroyed.”
According to Shri Ganga Ram Hospital in the national capital, where the former Chief Minister was admitted, Shibu Soren was suffering from kidney disease, and faced a stroke a month and a half ago. He was on life support for the last one month.
BJP leader Nishikant Dubey expressed grief over the demise of the leader, saying, “An era is over, God can give you and your entire family the strength to bear this sorrow. The respected Shibu Soren made a significant contribution to the development of JMM.”
Shibu Soren led the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha for 38 years and is known as the founder patron of the party. He was the third Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
In a four -decade career in politics, Soren was elected eight times for the Lok Sabha and served as a Rajya Sabha MP for two conditions. (AI)
