Philippines President Ferdinand Romledage Marcos Jr. will soon visit India on a state visit, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Monday.

Sharing an update on X, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jiswal, “President of the Philippines @Bongbongmarcos, Mr. Ferdinand Romuelidage Marcos Jr., will soon visit a state.

The visit, scheduled from August 4 to 8, will include meetings with President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior officials.

After reaching New Delhi on August 4, Marcos will meet Foreign Minister S Jaishankar.
On August 5, he will hold a garland in Rajghat. Marcos will then interact with PM Modi at Hyderabad House.

The subsequent memorandum and press statements will be exchanged.
Marcos will then meet JP Nadda, Minister of Health and Family Welfare and then President Draupadi Murmu.

The President of the Philippines will then visit Bangalore and meet Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot.

On the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ferdinand Razos Junior will pay a state visit to India, in a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday.

This will be India’s first visit to Marcos since the perception of the post of President of the Philippines.

Diplomatic relations between India and the Philippines were established in November 1949. The two countries have since developed a strong partnership in the broad spectrum of areas including trade and investment, defense and security, maritime cooperation, agriculture, healthcare, pharmaceuticals and digital technologies. Both countries also connect closely at the regional level, including India’s comprehensive strategic partnership with ASEAN.

The statement said that India’s relations with the Philippines are an integral pillar of our ‘Act, East’ Policy, Darshan Mahasagar and Indo-Pacific. President Marcos’ upcoming state trip matches the 75th anniversary of India-Failipines diplomatic relations. The journey is an opportunity for both leaders to determine the way for future bilateral cooperation and engage on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
