Srinagar, August 2: A large amount of Rs 184 crore has been credited directly in the bank accounts of 8.80 lakh farmers in Jammu and Kashmir as the 20th installment under the PM Kisan Saman Nidhari Yojana.
Agricultural Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Department, Javed Ahmed Dar, today attended a national level virtual meeting of Sher-e-Kashmir University in Agricultural Science and Technology-Kashmir (Skit-K), where Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 20th installation of the scheme.
PM-Kisan Saman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) is a major central region scheme that aims to provide confident income aid to all landholding farmer families across the country. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive of 6,000 per year in three equal installments, directly transferred to their bank accounts through direct benefits transfer (DBT). This initiative is designed to fulfill farmers input costs, increase productivity and ensure financial stability.
Since its launch in February 2019, PM-farmer has become one of the largest direct income support programs for farmers globally, benefits millions of agricultural homes and contributes to strengthening the agricultural economy.
With the release of the 20th installment, the scheme continues to act as a significant support for famine in J&K, where agricultural economy remains a major pillar of economy.
