Ottawa – Ottawa stressed that it has not sent fatal weapons to Israel, a few days after issuing a report, Israeli’s customs data shows that Canadian weapons are still being exported regularly.

External Affairs Minister Anita Anand says that the Israeli tax authority was identified as “bullets”, actually “pantball-style projectiles” that could not be used, even though the bullets were identified by the authority as “wars and parts of parts”.

After a alliance of Canadian advocates for Palestinians, the government’s statement releases a report in which several shipments were identified from Canada to Israel, identified as “tanks and other armored fighting vehicles” or parts of such vehicles.

Anand called the report “flawless” and insisted that Canada still blocks military export permits for any material that can be used in Gaza.

The Parliament voted in favor of a non-negotiable resolution in March 2024 to prevent new arms permits for Israel, and the government later announced a review of existing export permits.

The groups behind Tuesday’s report showed that the government misled Parliament as to what the Canadian firms were shipping Israel.

This report of Canadian Press was first published on 1 August 2025.
