Canadian trade groups are eagerly looking at business talks with the US, do not want to run the country in a deal, but say uncertainty is weighing on their members.
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce says that it seems that spending a little more time on crafting the right deal is well worth waiting because it will provide permanent advantage.
However, the group also feels businesses in Canada and the US needs immediate certainty.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business agrees. This warns that the current uncertainty is preventing many of its 100,000 members from planning for the future.
CFIB says no deal is better than a bad deal, but the lack of resolution has left companies uncertain whether they would have to scale back operation or stop the employees.
US President Donald Trump commented after implementing 35 percent tariffs on several Canadian goods overnight.
