Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recovered the body of a 75 -year -old man from Northern York, who is believed to have drowning after his canoe on a lake on Tuesday evening.
Around 6:30 pm, the rescue team was invited to the Balasam Lake in the city of Kavratha lakes for a man’s report in a canoe that had gone to the overboard and failed to revive.
The crew patrolled the water but was unable to detect the man before night.
The next day at around 1:30 pm, the OPP underwater search and recovery unit located the man’s body and brought it to the shore.
His identity has not been released and the exact circumstances around his death are still not clear.
The OPP says an investigation is on.
