Many flight operations disrupted due to heavy rains in Delhi, Airlines issue advisor

Heavy rains and lewd winds in Delhi have inspired major airlines, including IndiGo, SpiceJet and Air India, to warn of possible disruptions for flight operations on Tuesday morning.

IndiGo said in a post on X, “With the expectation of heavy rainfall more than #Delhi, we are looking at the airport and a chance of slow traffic. While we cannot control the sky, we are making every effort to keep our journey stable on the ground.

SpiceJet also highlighted the impact of adverse weather conditions in Delhi and Dharamshala, paying attention to X, “#Weatherupdate: Delhi (DEL) and Dharmashala (DHM) may affect all departure/arrival and their consequential flights.

Similarly, Air India issued a warning, stating, “This morning and more rain from Delhi, please check your flight position before going to the airport and allow additional time for your visit.”

IMD predicts heavy rains across India by 4 August. Northwest India, including eastern Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh, is expected to experience very heavy rainfall on July 29 with heavy rains in Uttarakhand, Punjab and Haryana. West India including Konkan and Gujarat, on July 29, will see isolated rains and light rain for moderate rains for 6-7 days.

Northeast India, including Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, are expected to experience heavy to heavy rainfall. East and central India including Bihar and Madhya Pradesh will experience separate heavy rains and thunder.

South Peninsular India, including Kerala and coastal Karnataka, are expected to experience heavy rainfall on 29–30 July with strong winds (40–50 km per hour). Most regions for next week are likely to be light to moderate rain and thunder.

According to IMD, it is estimated that during the next few days, the north -west, northeast and eastern India will be quite widespread for widespread rainfall. Central and peninsular India is also scattered for quite widespread rainfall.

The Meteorological Department of India (IMD) has projected very heavy rains at different places in eastern Rajasthan on Wednesday (July 30).
