Eleven people have been accused after a month -long police investigation, which exposes an organized crime ring involved in the theft of child’s products including alleged drug trafficking and formula and vitamins.
The dubbed project Bengal, the four -month operation was led by the Peel Regional Police and was initiated in response to community complaints of suspected drug activity in Mississaga’s Medowel region.
Investigators say the group of suspects allegedly stealing the goods of a child high-desired from commercial businesses and exchange of goods for drugs.
According to police, the crime group targeted items such as baby formula and vitamin – products are often monitored in retail shops. Investigators alleged that the suspects would then trade the stolen goods for illegal drugs.
The scheme surfaced through a combination of monitoring and assistance from local retail partners, including Rexol, who shared video footage with local authorities, which led to several arrests.

After weeks of monitoring, Peel Regional Police Officers carried out the search warrant on two Mississaga properties – one is believed to have been used as a Stash House for stolen goods, the other as a site for the use and smuggling of drugs.
Police seized more than half a kilogram of cocaine, a variety of other drugs, and they described the stolen property and the “significant amount” of income of crime. Police said about $ 30,000 goods, mainly baby products, were recovered and retailers were returned.
In total, 11 persons were arrested, in which 33 allegations were made. 11 accused were not identified.
