Police Book 3 Drug Papers under Pitt NDPS Act in Sopore

Srinagar, 25 July: In his constant campaign against drug trafficking and in its continuous campaign to its zero-to-diabetes approach, the police in Sopore have booked three habitual drug pedals under the prevention of illegal traffic in the intoxicating drugs and Psychotropic Materials Act (Pit NDPS Act) for frequent participation in drug trade.

In a statement, a police said that the following accused persons have been recorded in separate jails; Abdul Hamid Lone, son of Mohammad Ramadan Lone, a resident of Tujjar Sheri, has currently been recorded in Kot Bhalwal Jail. Javed Ahmed Wani, son of Abdul Suban Wani, a resident of Tujar Sharif, is currently recorded in Central Jail Emphala, Jammu. Similarly, Ahmed Dar, son of Mohammad Sultan Dar, a resident of Rebon Sopore, has been currently recorded in the District Jail Udampur.

Despite repeated FIRs and preventive action in the past, these individuals continued their participation in the network of drugs, posed a serious threat to public safety and youth welfare. The statement stated that after detailed monitoring and dosier preparations, competent authorities issued detention orders under the Pit NDPS Act.

The statement said that as part of the ongoing crack, the police in Sopore have identified 20 more repeated criminals involved in drug pedaling, who are likely to face similar action under Pit NDP in the coming days.

The police reiterated their firm to destroy the ecosystem of the entire narcotics and urged the public to be vigilant and to cooperate by reporting any suspected drug activity.
