The Indian Army, in a tribute ahead of Kargil Vijay Day, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Flag Foundation of India, hoisted a 72-foot high national flag in one of the highest convenience points in Lamochan, Dras. The flag was hoisted on Friday by Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla, General Officer Commanding, 14 Corps, Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla along with Major General (Rtired) Asim Kohli, CEO of the Flag Foundation of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Kohli said to Annie, “From this point, we can see Tololing and Tiger Hill; Kargil’s distinguished place in the history of struggle. This tricolor symbolizes the spirit and sacrifice of our martyrs, whose courage has protected the dignity and sovereignty of the country. There is no great respect for the country to give a life for the country.”

Ashim Kohli, an experienced of Kargil War, was posted in the Batalic region during the war. Talking to Annie, he said, “From our battalion, we lost an officer, an JCO, and 26 brave soldiers. This flag is a tribute to their sacrifice. Bindu 5353, point 5353, the point seen from this site, 5353, is under Pakistani control, and when his soldiers are waving this tiranga, it will work as a powerful message.”
