The British couple were living in Afghanistan for the last 18 years, running education and training projects and decided to stay in the country even after the Taliban acquisition in 2021.
The United Nations human rights experts said in a statement on Monday that the Rrenolds couple was “an irreparable loss or even death at risk” without adequate medical care.
A spokesman for the Foreign Office said: “We are supporting the family of two British citizens who have been detained in Afghanistan.”
