Traffic advisor issued for Jammu-Srinagar highway amid Amarnath Yatra

Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K, Jammu/Srinagar, has issued a detailed advice for the movement of vehicles on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and other major routes, effective for July 21, 2025, effective for July 21, 2025.

Slow movement on NH-44 due to road conditions

Between 19 and 20 July, the traffic movement slowed down with NH-44, especially on Nashri-dalwas and between Marog and Kishtwari Pedhar, due to the ongoing single-lane traffic and poor road conditions.

Travel advisor for local passengers

Residents coming from Rasi, Katra, Udhampur, Patnitop, Doda and Ramban are requested to carry a valid photo ID card. If the cutoff travels beyond time, to ensure trouble free movement.

Security Advisor for LMVs and HMV operators

Passengers and LMV drivers are advised to travel during the daylight hours due to the risk of shooting stones in Ramban-Banihal stretch.

Fruit growers and transporters carrying Parishbals from Kashmir Valley to Jammu should load and park their vehicles before 9:00 pm at the specified places between Nausag Tunnel and Levadura.

The cargo carrier (HMVS/LMVs) is warned against overloading and it should ensure vehicle fitness and adequate fuel levels.

Only 6- and 10-layer HMV are allowed on Dhar Road.

Traffic plan for July 21, 2025

Subject to favorable weather and road conditions, the following movement will be allowed:

The convoy of Shri Amarnath ji Yatra, LMV, and private cars will be allowed from both directions- Srinagar to Srinagar and vice versa.

HMV will be allowed in alternative days, and their movement will be managed in coordination with traffic control units (TCUs).

Cut-off timing for LMVS/passenger cars

Nagrota (Jammu) to Srinagar: 0600 pm – 1200 pm

Jakheni (Udhampur) to Srinagar: 0700 pm – 1300 pm

Kajigund to Jammu: 1130 am – 1400 pm

No vehicle will be allowed outside these times.

Heavy vehicle movement

HMV from Navig Tunnel (Kajigund) towards Jammu will be allowed to be subject to traffic and weather withdrawal only by 1900 pm.

To streamline traffic during the journey, FCI vehicles returning to Jammu should use Magal Road, according to the instructions of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir.

Other route advisor

Institute-Sythan-Anantnag Road (NH-244): LMVs and HPSV are allowed in both directions during daylight, which is subject to withdrawal from NHIDCL. HMVs (in addition to designated HPSVs) are prohibited.

SSG Road (Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari): Regulated movement with LMVS is allowed, followed by HMVS from Minamarg to Srinagar (0500-1000 hrs) and Sonamarg to Kargil (1130-1730 hrs).

Mughal Road: LMVS and private cars allowed both ways. HMVS (up to 10 tires) allows only between Shopian to Poonach at 0700 pm – 1800 pm.
