'Most time of My Life': Family stabbed the loss of mother and wife

Shahnaz Pestonji was shopping for groceries like she always does on Thursday, but when she did not reach home at her normal time, her husband Soli started worrying.

As soon as he was about to get out to search for him, a police officer knocked on his door. “This was the worst time in my life,” shared sooli. “He said that someone had stabbed him.”

Shahnaz appeared to be a knife in an unsafe attack after 9:30 am in a commercial parking lot in Parkway Forest Drive and Shepard Avenue East area.

He was rushed to the hospital where he died of injuries. The Toronto Police is searching for a single male suspect.

His family, who describes him as the most kind person, is now hurting the devastating loss of his beloved wife, mother and grandmother.

“I don’t want to think about my mother. I want to think about my mother who she was in life, and she is the most kind person, the least violent person you will meet anytime, doing things for everyone, her soul, her smile,” her daughter Dina said.

Shahnaz was a nurse in Sunbrook for more than 20 years and took care of that nature in every part of his life, her family tells Citynuse.

Dina shared, “She always found happiness in everything, no matter what we were doing, even in the difficult times, she was the one that was always our rock. (She) ensured that everyone was fine around her, that we were all taken care of,” Dina shared.

Solie and Shahnaz have been married for 47 years. “I was really blessed, I mean, it’s 47 years, but I don’t think many people will have the life that I have,” they shared.

Dina said, “She is everything for everyone, but with such a heart and so much optimism and laughter. She does not really let us be unhappy. She always found the way for us to lighten things.”

The family said that they do not want to analyze the tragedy in the way she died “” [with it],

“It never understands … We can only hope that the person will help, but don’t think about it … Just think about what we have with him.” Yasmin said. “This is the only way we can see it and be able to move forward in a positive way.”

Yasmin is expecting his second child and his mother will never be able to meet her grandson. “My mother is another person who is able to feel the child and she will never be away from us.”

“Our life of about 40 years [with my mom] And about 42 years for Dina, due to that kind of love, you just don’t lose it. I hope we can be as proud of our mother as much as we can and simply honor her, ”Yasmin shared.
