Ottawa – Canadian Union of Postal Workers are urging workers to reject the latest contract proposal of Canada Post.
Union’s national president Jan Simpson says that a strong vote will not only reject the proposal, but will also protect the integrity of the bargaining process.
The Canada Industrial Relations Board will hold votes on the proposed deal starting next week.
The Canada Post is in a deadlock with the union representing around 55,000 postal service workers after one year and one and a half dialogues.
Federal Job Minister Patty Hazdu asked the board to step into a vote last month and kept the latest proposal of Crown Corporation for one vote.
The proposal will show an increase of wages of more than 13 percent, but also add part -time workers. Canada Post says that the postal service is necessary to preserve.
