Warning on ‘contaminated’ tomatoes sold in Britain

A potential deadly Salmonella Is connected to outbreak Tomato, Health And Security guard has warned,

Food security heads believe that outbreaks were caused by many foods including eggs, red meat products and tomatoes.

According to the UK Health Protection Agency (UKHSA), cases due to salad staple were not limited to a certain area of the UK. As a result, it is unknown whether they were grown in the UK or imported from any other country.

The seven outbreaks of Salmonella were reported to be for national monitoring in 2024, including 304 cases of which 280 cases were confirmed in a laboratory.

The test showed that all cases were caused by Salmonella strains blockle and stratchona – which could cause diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, nausea and vomiting.

But the health and safety guards have warned that Salmonella Strathagona can especially cause serious illness.

However, Salmonella blockle – which is usually found in East Asia and America – has only been recorded several times across Europe several times, making it dangerous in the UK.

Salmonella is one of the most common causes of food poisoning. It takes 12 to 72 hours to develop symptoms after swallowing a contaminated product.

While most people suffer from vomiting and diarrhea, there is a risk of suffering from severe illness with children and the elderly such as weak immune systems.

In some cases, people who become seriously ill require hospital care because dehydration caused by the disease can cause life to life.

Ukhsa data for 2024 revealed that Salmonella blocklee confirmed by lab test had 81 cases – these 14 hospitals were hospitalized.

The outbreak of Salmonella Strathakona, which also affects 24 people due to tomatoes.

These infections are usually contracted through consumption of contaminated food, such as undercurcated poultry, meat, eggs, or unwanted raw fruits and vegetables. Unexpected milk and cheese also pose a risk.

The water supply used to grow tomatoes can cause salmonella contamination and can even remain in the soil and continue to contaminate them as it grows.

A separate salmonella typhimurium outbreak caused 109 cases associated with red meat. There were also 24 cases of Salmonella Enterritidis which were associated with eggs.

The UKHSA data released last month revealed that in the cases of Salmonella in 2024 high levels of record decade reached more than 10,000 cases. The data showed an increase of 17.1 percent in 8,872 cases from 8,872 cases in 2023.
