Foreign Affairs Minister K Jaishankar on Friday welcomed the United States verdict to nominate TRF as a “foreign terrorist organization”, Resistance Front (TRF) is a proxy of Pakistan’s Lashkar-e-Nayaba (Late) Terror Group and claimed responsibility for the attack of Pahgam terror on 22 April.
Jaishankar called the move by the US State Department as “a strong confirmation of Indo-American-American terrorism cooperation”.

In a statement issued by US State Secretary Marco Rubio, it was admitted that TRF, a known proxy of Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Tayiba, claimed responsibility for the Pahgam terror attack under anti-American terrorism laws.
The April 22 attack in the tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir claimed the lives of 26 citizens and triggered a four -day military growth between India and Pakistan. In its light, the US gave the group to the group as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO) and a specially designated global terrorist (SDGT).
The United States mentioned that it was the most deadly civil attack in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
The US State Department further said that TRF has also been involved in several attacks on Indian security forces in recent years, including 2024.
The US government said that the decision underlined the Trump administration’s constant commitment to global terrorism.
Rubio said in a statement, “These actions taken by the state department demonstrate the Trump administration’s commitment to protect our national security interests, combat terrorism and implement President Trump’s call for justice for President Trump’s Pahalgam attack.”
“TRF and other affiliated surnames have been added to the designation as a FTO and SDGT for Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act and Executive Order 13224 respectively.
The Indian Embassy in the US said in a statement, “Another demonstration of strong India-USA counter-attentive cooperation. Appreciate the State Department for listing Resistance Front (TRF) as a nominated foreign terrorist organization and specially designated global terrorist.”

Earlier this week, Eam Jaishankar, while speaking at a meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers in Tianjin, emphasized the importance of taking an unconnected stand against terrorism, recently cited by the Joint Nations Security Council.
