The alcohol and gaming commission of the AGCO has ordered a time in Fergus, Ontario so that one of the establishment owners was convicted in two cases of sexual harassment.
Gofi Newfi suspended the effective liquor license on Tuesday, July 15, in 105 Queen Street West. AGCO has also issued a notice of proposal to cancel the license.
AGCO said in a release, “This decision follows the punishment in two cases of sexual harassment by Ontario Court of Justice, Robert O’Brien, of one of the owners of the bar.”
According to the rules under the Wine License and Control Act, the Agco note that “the individuals are not eligible to keep the liquor license, where it is the right basis to believe that the applicant will not trade according to the law and with integrity and honesty.
“The findings of the court provide enough evidence to maintain those concerns.”
The installation may appeal to the decision of the Agco within 15 days.
The Chief Executive Officer and Registrar of the AGCO, Dr. Karin Shonar said that punitive action is a reminder that Ontario holds a liquor license “is a privilege for individuals who can be trusted to work with integrity.”
