The Toronto Police arrested three teenagers after an armed robbery in North York, which seized a stuffed handgun and banned ammunition. Investigators say the incident stems from a meeting organized through social media.
On July 13, the authorities responded to a robbery report near Jane Street and Finch Avenue West. According to policeThe victim had arranged to meet the suspects on a social media platform to buy an item.
When the meeting took place, the suspects allegedly attacked the victim and stole their belongings. The victim faced minor injuries.
Answering officials located the suspects nearby and took them into custody. During the search, police say they recovered a loaded handgun with seven rounds of ammunition from a person.
After the arrest, the authorities carried out a search warrant at a residence in North York. There, police say they discovered an extended magazine with ten additional rounds.
A 15-year-old Toronto man is facing allegations related to several firearms, including robbery, unauthorized possession of a gun, possession of prohibited ammunition, carrying a hidden weapon and failing to follow a release order. The teenager is also accused with two cases of using a gun, weapon or prohibited equipment.
A 16 -year -old and a 17 -year -old, both Toronto, have been accused of robbery.
The three youths cannot be nominated under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. All were scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
Police is urging someone with information related to the incident to contact investigators.
