Ottawa – Public employees of the Canadian Association say that the cabin crew in Porter Airlines has filed a union certification application with the Canada Industrial Relations Board.
The union will represent about 1,200 cabin crew in the airline.
CUPE National Secretary-Flagist Candes Renic says that Porter is a wonderful Canadian success story and the cabin crew deserves to share in that success.
CUPE already represents 18,500 cabin crew in other airlines across the country including Air Canada and Westjet.
In 2006, Porter began flying based on the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport on the city coast.
It has increased to provide service in North America.
