The Bureau of Jammu and Kashmir and Kashmir Bureau (ACB) arrested on Friday and arrested Manzoor Ahmed Bhat, PDD Sub Division Pattan’s Lineman-II, Baramulla to bribe and accept ₹ 5000.
A spokesperson said that the ACB received a written complaint alleging that Manzoor Ahmed Bhat, Lineman-II (nominated as meter reader register), in the Power Development Department (PDD), Sub Division Pattan Baramulla demanded a ₹ 5,000 from the complainant for a new habitat for a new habitat in Panjinra.
Since the complainant did not want to pay the bribery, he contacted the ACB to take legal action against the accused public servant under the law. On receiving the complaint, a prudent verification was done through the nominated officer. The verification report confirmed the allegations and accordingly, a case FIR No. 13/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as was amended) was registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar and investigation was initiated.
A trap team was formed during the investigation. The team laid a successful trap and accused the accused public servant Manzoor Ahmed Bhat R/O Buran Pattan Baramulla, Lineman-II (nominated as meter reader panzinara) (PDD) sub-division Pattan Baramullah Baramullah, demanding a red-hung and accepting the bryb.
The accused was arrested by the ACB team at the spot after following the fixed procedure of the law. In the presence of independent witnesses associated with the trap team, bribe money was also recovered from their possession.
Further investigation of the case is going on immediately.
