Doctors placed ‘ideology on the interest of the patient’ against Palantir’s NHS software

Web Desk, 09/07/202509/07/2025

Doctors oppose the use of software developed by Palantir NHS “The ideology of the patient’s interest is”, the boss of the Tech Giant has told MPs.

Lewis Mosley on Tuesday appeared as part of his investigation in the Digital Center of Government in front of the Science, Innovation and Technology Committee.

While there, he also claimed that Palanatir had “iconic difficulty” and said that it is “very proud” of the work done in Israel.

Palantir was co-established by billionaire tech entrepreneur Peter ThealWho was the initial supporter of the US President Donald TrumpAnd has worked with the US government.

It was announced in November 2023 that a group led by Palauntir had received a contract of £ 330 million to provide NHS Federed Data Platform (FDP).

The shared software system’s goal would be easy for health and care organizations to work together and provide better services to patients, but Palentir’s participation expressed concern how patient data would be used.

Asked by MPs how the company protects patient privacy, and if the data will be processed outside the UK, or is accessible by any foreign government, Mr. Mosley said: “The important thing to keep in mind the way our software work is deployed in NHS, the way it is deployed in NHS, the data controllers – so are the controlling of those organizations that control those people Let’s control

“Therefore each of them gets its own example of our software, and they control who has access to which data the data is integrated into, and they apply, apply and apply data security policies, which they understand properly.”

He also emphasized that Palantir “does not get any economic benefits from data, the data belongs to the customer”.

Mr. Mosley claimed that Medics who oppose Palantir’s involvement in FDP, as choosing “ideology on the patient’s interest”.

It comes after British Medical Association (BMA) passed a resolution stating that the company is a “unacceptable option” for FDP at its annual representative meeting in Liverpool last month.

The members of the union voted in favor of BMA lobbying against the introduction of Palatir software in healthcare, and called the Health and Social Care Department to create an audit of the progress of the system fast in NHS.

When asked about this, Mr. Mosley said: “I was very disappointed to see this. I think the allegation we lack transparency or it is secret is wrong.

“I think the BMA has, if I could be a frank, then chose the ideology of the patient’s interest.

“I think our software is going to improve the patient; so fast, more effective and ultimately the health care system is making their treatment more efficient.

“And I, as a patient, and as a user of NHS, I want it to be as quick and efficient as possible.

“I am very sad, clearly, that ideology has taken predetermning on those interests.”

The BMA vote comes for more than a year as health workers blocked the entrance to the headquarters of NHS England to end Palantir’s contract.

In April 2024, hundreds of NHS workers protested in Central London, who read “No Palantir in NHS” and “Palauntir AIDS apartheid”.

Shri Mosley also pushed back against the claims of Palatikar’s reputation.

It was kept to Mr. Mosley that Palanatir has “reputed difficulty” conservative MP Kit Maltas.

He said, “Everyone is a little suspicious about what you do.” “And a part of that iconic difficulty is being used in war on Gaza due to your software and due to the targeting of Palestinians with special features.

“What safety will you provide for the UK programs to ensure that they are not complicated in the Commission of War Crimes?”

Mr. Mosley said that he would “push back” on the question around reputation, saying: “I think the anxiety and doubt you have mentioned, the nature of our software, the nature of our business model and the kind of work that supports the work, is the result of misunderstanding.

“I will insist on the fact that we have never worked and will never work in countries that are unfavorable in the West like China or Russia or Iran.

“We work in Israel. We are proud of the work we do there. We have supported Israel from 7 October, but our work is also before those events.

“I can’t go into the operating details of the manner in which our software is used, but I can assure you that I think the systems you look at the systems, such as lavender, for example, are not they include we include.
