Canada is not affected by Trump's growing time limit for trading deals

US President Donald Trump says he will send letters to countries around the world today as he looks for trade deals – but Canada is not affected by Wednesday’s tariff deadline.

On Sunday, Trump said that he is sending correspondence to 15 countries affected by the President’s “liberation day” duties, stating that if there is no business deal, he will pay the tariff rate.

Members of Trump’s administration have said that the tariffs will be applicable in August.

Trump took his trade war in the world in April, but a few hours later went back to the most devastating duties, which set a 90 -day time limit to deal.

Since then, the only trade system with the Trump administration is framework for deals with two countries.

Canada was not included in those global tariffs and is committed to coming up with the US by 21 July with any bilateral deal.
