Unusual bee attack in French city 24 injured, 3 seriously leaves

Aurillac, France (AP) – According to local authorities, an unusual attack by bees in the French city Aurilac has injured 24 people, including three in three critical condition.

The province of the Cantal in South-Central France said that passers were stung in a period of about 30 minutes on Sunday morning. Firefighters and medical teams were rushed to the spot to treat the victims, while the police established a security circumference until the bees stopped their attack.

The three people were taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Auralack Mayor Pierre Mathanier told the French Broadcaster France 3 that the incident could be related to Asian Hornets, threatening the bees installed on the roof of the city’s hotel 10 years ago. He said that it was likely to make bees aggressive.

“All finished well,” he said. “Emergency services were fully coordinated. There was no nervousness in Aurlac, but many people stung.”
