A swimmer has been rescued from a possible drowning incident in Lake Eri for the work of a 12 -year -old family member.
Ontario Provincial Police says the authorities were called at Port Dover Beach after 4:30 pm on Saturday to treat a 65 -year -old man who experienced a medical episode during swimming.
Police say that the 12 -year -old family member of the swimmer recognized the signs of crisis and pulled the man back to the edge.
They say that a nearby viewer performed the CPR and successfully revived the man, who was then taken to a nearby hospital by paramedics. No serious injuries were reported.
Police said in a release, “Norfolk OPP appreciates the fast and courageous tasks of both the young rescuers and the audience.” “Swimmers are firmly encouraged to swim with a partner, wearing individual floating devices (PFD), and, when possible, select locations supervised by trained lifeguards.”
