Ottawa – Military police say they have reopened an investigation into a Facebook group, describing the Canadian Army Commanding Officer as “disgusting”.
Lieutenant General. Michael Wright says that on 25 June he was made aware of the allegations about a Facebook group called “Blue Haikle Mafia” and included “Canadian Army members”.
Wright says that group positions include “racist, misunderstanding, homophobic and antisemetic comments and pictures”.
The group was initially reported to the Army Chen of Command last December and the office of Canadian forces Provost Marshall says that the case was transferred to the unit for a disciplinary investigation.
According to an email statement from Provost Marshall’s office, the investigation was reopened by the military police on 27 June.
Wright says that all members of the Canadian army need to “keep themselves on the highest standards” and anyone who engage in this type of online behavior may have to face “administrative and/or disciplinary consequences.”
