Weekend is needed: Salsa on St. Claire, Ephrofest and more

If you can brave high temperatures, the first weekend of July is full of a lot of different events, whoever participates for your interest, including fringe festival, Afrofest 20205 and Salsa on St. Claire.

Keep in mind that there is a metro at the end of this week and transit is closed.

Afrofest 2025

The largest free African music festival in North America has returned to Toronto later this week. Afrofest will celebrate its 37th year and for the fourth year in a row, handle the Woodbine Park, with more than 55 performances that will perform African and Black Culture.

The entire festival, which runs from July 4 to July 6, will also have more than 100 food and cargo sellers.

Lawrence taste 2025

The three -day meal, music and cultural ceremony will take place later at the end of this week at Lawrence, Scarborough’s largest street festival.

Salsa on St. Claire

The Free Festival will close St. Clair Avenue West from Wilona Drive to Christie Street.

Toronto fringe festival

Ontario’s largest performing art festival is still on, giving you the opportunity to capture more than 100 shows and 20 stages across the city. The Toronto Fringe Festival lasts till 13 July and the tickets are now on sale.

Sermential begins

This is a summer meal phenomenon for many Torontonians … Sumrylis is back and runs from Friday to 20 July.

TTC/Go Transit Closure

Line 2 off

The metro service on Line 2 between Kipling and Jane stations will be replaced by shuttle buses for the planned signal work on Saturday, 5 July and Sunday, July 6, 6 July. Regular subway service will resume on Monday, July 7.

Staffville line closed

On 5-6 July, Go buses instead of train service on Staffville Line As they upgrade construction. There will be no Go Transit service in Miliken, Agncourt and Kennedy Go, consider TTC options.

Road closure

Gardiner Expressway Closure

Temporary off

  • The TTC’s King Station is reduced to add the new lift to the new lift by both ways between Wellington and King for underground work at the TTC station. Construction is expected to continue in 2026.
  • Queen Street is completely closed to traffic between Bay and Victoria roads to adjust the work at a new station for the Ontario Line Metro. The closure is going to run until 2027.

  • Breamner Bulleward has reduced one west side to a west side at the intersection with the Navy Ghat court by June. Eastbound lanes remain open.
  • By August, Blue Jais Way is closed between Front Street and Navy Wharf Court by August. Local access is maintained.
