Peel police seized guns after cruiser during traffic stops

Peel regional police say that they have taken a handgun on the streets after being seized during a traffic stop in Mississaga.

The incident occurred on 25 June 2025 when the officials were patrolling the area of ​​99 acorn Place near the city.

Peel police say they were trying to investigate a vehicle when their cruiser was surrounded by the driver of the vehicle.

The Peel police said in a media release, “The suspect tried to run away on foot, but was quickly arrested by the authorities after chasing one leg.”

Police say the suspect was allegedly found to have a loaded illegal Glock 25 mm handgun.

Brampton resident, 31 -year -old Demetre Hibart was kept in pending bail hearing for the following allegations:

  • Dangerous operation;
  • Unsuccessful to stay after the accident;
  • Obstruction of a peace officer;
  • To carry a hidden weapon;
  • Capture of a stuffed prohibited or restricted gun;
  • Knowledge of unauthorized occupation of guns;
  • In the possession of a motor vehicle, knowing that a gun was unauthorized

According to police, Hibart is not allowed legally to keep a gun.
