The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association on Monday expressed his heartfelt gratitude for Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his timely intervention, anxiety and unwavering support, which provided the facility of safe withdrawal of more than 1,300 Kashmiri students trapped in Sangha–Iran.
In a formal letter addressed to the Chief Minister, the association appreciated its constant advocacy and leadership during the unprecedented crisis. The letter stated, “Your time intervention and public appeal at a critical point paid national attention to the plight of Kashmiri students trapped in Iran. It is due to such collective, compassionate efforts that massive human reactions are possible,” the letter states.
The national convenor of the association Nasir Khumhemi also thanked the Chief Minister’s advisor Nasir Sogami for his active and hands role during the withdrawal operations. “We are especially grateful to Sogami Saheb for his support and personally to monitor the entire withdrawal and transport process from the first day. His continuous coordination, timely communication, and logical inspection gave immense relief to the students and his families in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Khoomi added, “We are very grateful to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for standing by students to stand up to the highest level and continuously raise their concerns at the highest level. The Foreign Minister’s engagement with the Foreign Minister and many follow-ups helped immediate support to transfer students from high-risk regions in Iran and return action for security in India.”
He said that the emotional and psychological crisis faced by students in cities like Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, QOM and Tabariz was serious. “These students, stuck in struggling cities, ended the days of fear and uncertainty. Their safe return to their families in Jammu and Kashmir has brought very important emotional peace and relief.”
“The initial response to the final phase of his journey was no less than the care and priority exemplary by the Chief Minister for the safety of Kashmiri students,” Khuhami said.
He emphasized that this time intervention and continuous coordination by the Chief Minister not only saved life, but also rejected faith in the accountability and inclusion of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “During one of the most turbulent periods, Chief Minister emerged as a beacon of hope and assurance to harass Kashmiri students and their families,” he said.
The association also accepted the important role played by Omar Abdullah, which facilitates the post -arrival logistics. “Due to their intervention, deluxe sleepers and AC buses were arranged from Delhi to Srinagar, making sure that all 1,300 students could return home safely and home with dignity,” said Khuyami.
He further praised for the efforts of the Indian Embassy and Mea, who worked in coordination with the Chief Minister. “The Indian Embassy and the joint efforts of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah gave immense consolation to the affected families, reduced their anxiety and ensured a smooth and safe return.”
The withdrawal stands as a will, when compassionate leadership, timely coordination and responsible regime can be obtained when they come together. “We honestly thank Omar Abdullah for becoming an integral part of this humanitarian effort and always for standing by students from Jammu and Kashmir during the time of crisis,” Khoomi concluded.
