The mother of two, Sarah Montgomery, was found in a property in the Elmfield Walk area of Donaghadi, Northern Ireland Police Service (PSNI) said.
A 28 -year -old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Tom Philips said that the police received a report of an unconscious woman at around 2.15 pm on Saturday, with a serious injury inside a house in the Donaghadi’s Elmfield Walk area.
He connected officers and Medics from the Northern Ireland ambulance service, which provides medical treatment at the scene.
Mr. Philips said that the 27 -year -old, who was also pregnant, was declared dead on the spot.
A cordon around the address is in place, while the police interrogate.
“Inquiry is in an early stage in this deep tragic case. Our views are also with Sara’s family during this incredibly difficult time because they struggle to come with what they have happened,” said Mr. Philips.
“Sara’s family is being supported by specially trained officers as the investigation is on.”
Yavon Mcmanus, the chief inspector of the North Region, said the police understand that the incident “will cause shock and concern within the community” and will be present in the police sector.
“Local people will look at our officials in and around the area, still with Cordens,” he said.
He urged those who talk with the officials.
Ms. Mcmanus emphasized force’s commitment to deal with violence against women and girls, saying that it is a “deep impact” on individuals, families and society.
He said, “It is an important priority to address the issue, and we are committed to directly connecting with the local community, which are committed to offer support, build confidence and help people feel safe.”
“I am appealing to someone who believes that they may have information who can help us in our investigation to contact us on 101.”
