Traffic diversion plan released for Muharram processions in Srinagar

Srinagar Traffic Police on Friday issued a detailed traffic advice for the movement of smooth vehicles during Muharram processions in various parts of the city from 30 June to 21 July, 2025.

The advisor aims to facilitate both passengers and mourning during religious processions, which are held in relation to the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram, which started from 27 June (today).

Officials said that many major routes in Srinagar would see variations on specified dates and time, especially in areas including night-hajatbal road, Zadibal, Havaldar and Lalbazar Srinagar.

It says, on the 30th June (4th Muharram) on the major diversion dates, the night is with variations from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Night Ari-Hajatbal Road and Zadibal area.

1 July (5th Muharram), Raatri-Hajatbal and Zadibal with variations from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

On 2 July (6th Muharram), the Zadibal region with variations from 3:00 am to 8:00 pm.

On 3 July (7th Muharram), Rainwari-Hajatbal Road with variety from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm.

On 4 July (8th Muharram), Zadibal region with variations from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm.

5 July (9th Muharram), Raatri-Hajatbal and Zadibal with variations from 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

On July 6 (10th Muharram – Ashura), Zadibal area with variety from 4:00 am to 6:00 pm.

7 July (11th Muharram), Rainwari-Hajatbal and Zadibal with variations from 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

On 8 July (12th Muharram), Bagwanpora Lalbazar with variations from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

On 21 July (25th Muharram), the Jadibal region with variations from 6:30 am to 8:00 pm.

In addition, the alternative routes declared by the authorities are as follows: Traffic from Lal Chowk to Hazratbal will be redirected via Khanyar-Dinadari Sahib-Nowatt-Havl Lalallabazar, while Hazratbal vehicles towards the city will be diverted via Sadarbal-Lalbazar.

Similarly, traffic from Gojara will be routed through Havildar-Ali Mosque (Dr. Ali Jaan Road). In addition, the traffic department has urged motorists to cooperate and plan for their journey accordingly. If necessary, any additional variety will be communicated separately. “For more updates, passengers are advised to keep in touch with Srinagar Traffic Police,” officials said.
