Srinagar, June 19, KDC: Two faculty members of the Department of Civil Engineering in NIT Srinagar, Dr. Vivek and Dr. Sandeep Samantrai co-edged a reputed research book called “waste usage in geotchnical practice”. Willy, a prominent international academic publisher, has published the book.
It focuses on using a variety of waste materials in geo -technical engineering work, such as improvement in soil, construction of embankments and supporting foundations. The book highlights how waste can be used in manufacturing safe and effectively, which can be offered both environment and economic benefits.
Dr. Vivek said that this book was completed after many years of hard work and many amendments. “This is a proud moment for us. This book is the result of long efforts, and it reflects our goal of promoting permanent and practical solutions in civil engineering,” he said.
“We hope that this book will serve as a useful reference for engineers and researchers who are working to reduce environmental damage when creating strong and durable infrastructure. This is a small step towards greenery engineering practices,” Dr. Vivek said.
Dr. Sandeep Samantre said that the inspiration behind the book was to solve two major challenges: the need for waste disposal and permanent construction.
He said, “worldwide, engineers are looking for safe ways to use garbage instead of sending it to landfill. In this book, we have shown how fly ash, slag, construction debris and other types of waste like waste can be reused in geographical projects without compromising safety or power.”
Dr. Sandeep said that his focus was not only on science, but also on practicality. This book talks about real -world applications, how to test waste materials, understand their behavior, and use them responsibly in various construction settings, ”he said.
“Jammu and Kashmir is a region with challenging territory and environmental concerns. We believe the knowledge shared in this book will help design the infrastructure which is strong and environmentally friendly,” Dr. Sandeep said.
The two faculty members thanked the NIT Srinagar administration including the Director and Registrar for their constant encouragement, institutional support and research environment, which made this publication possible.
The book explains the properties of various waste materials, how to test and use them in construction, and what environmental effects they can have. It also looks at the cost benefits and rules related to using waste in construction projects. Authors believe that this book can help address the increasing problem of waste disposal by supporting safe and more environmentally friendly development.
Improper waste disposal can pollute underground water and carry large areas of land. The book shows how some of this waste can be used as an alternative to traditional construction materials, which can help reduce environmental loss and cut construction costs.
Dr. Vivek has 8 international and national patents in transport engineering and has published more than 19 research papers. Their research focuses on pavement materials, road design and use of geophase.
Dr. Sandeep participated in more than 50 international conferences and published 40 journal papers. He also has 11 patents. Their main research interests are in watershed management, waste materials and permanent environmental plans.
Dr. Dr. of NIT Srinagar S. Samantrai and Dr. Apart from Vivek, this book was given by Dr. S. Samantasinhar, Dr. As Sahu, and Dr. from Bhubaneswar. DP Satpathy and SM consultants, from Bhubaneswar respectively. Edited by SK Mohanty.
The book is now available through Villie’s global publication platform and is expected to help students, engineers, researchers and professionals working in the field of civil and environmental engineering.
