Cyber Police Kashmir has issued a strict warning against the prevalence of some media outlets on social media platforms and deliberate information by individuals by individuals, a deliberate attempt to provoke unrest and harass public peace.
In an official statement, Cyber Police Kashmir said, “It has come to our attention that some individuals and media platforms are engaged in spreading fake news and giving misinformation with malicious intentions. The purpose of such acts is with the aim of provoking unrest and harassing public order.”
The statement emphasized that legal proceedings will be initiated against those involved in such activities under the relevant sections of the law.
“We all consider all social media users, citizens and media outlets to avoid sharing uncomfortable and sensitive materials. False propagation can have serious consequences. We urge everyone to verify the facts that can be in danger before posting or forwarding any information that can put public peace and harmony,” Cyber Police Kashmir said.
The department reiterated its commitment to protect digital integrity and to maintain law and order in the region, while urging the public to report any suspicious or stimulating materials to the officials.
