Monsoon session to start from July 21, OP Sindoor, Pahalgam terrorist attack center for stage

Web Desk, 04/06/2025

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Wednesday that the monsoon session of Parliament would start from July 21 and will run till August 12. Both houses of Parliament will be prescribed to call after a break of more than three months on July 21 at 11 am.

The upcoming monsoon session will be the first Parliament session after Operation Sindoor, which was launched by India on 7 May in response to a terrorist attack in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir, claiming 26 lives.

It also comes amidst the demand to call a particular session of Parliament on the arrival of all party delegations to discuss various issues by opposition leaders, especially about developments that were after the Gustli Pahgam terror attack.

Congress Speaker Mallikrajun Kharge quoted the letter posted on X, saying, “We, the leaders of India reiterated our collective and immediate request to call a special session of Parliament to discuss the incident after the terrorist attack in Pahgam on 22 April 2025,”

Accusing the central government of “keeping the people of India and their elected representatives in darkness”, the Congress chief said that there are serious questions about the Pahgam terror attacks during the recent struggle between India and Pakistan and the killing of citizens in Ponch, Uri and Rajouri.

He said that there were also questions about “ceasefire announcements” and his implications for India’s national security and foreign policy.

“There are serious questions facing the nation about the terrorist attack, the killing of citizens in Poonch, Uri and Rajouri, declarations of ceasefire, and implications for our national security and foreign policy. We have supported the government’s efforts to join the international community in India’s position. The government has not said abroad.”

The government may also bring an impeachment motion against the High Court Judge Yashwant Verma in the upcoming monsoon session.

According to government sources, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has started talking to various political parties about an impeachment motion against High Court Judge Yashwant Verma in the next Parliament session.

The Supreme Court formed an inquiry committee after allegations of “burn cash” found in a residence of Justice Verma as a judge of the Delhi High Court.

The in-house inquiry committee submitted its report on the issue last month, which has since been sent to the Prime Minister and the President of India.

A source said, “The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs has started talking to all parties for impeachment motion against HC Judge Yashwant Verma.” (AI)
