Srinagar 02 June: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim, on Monday, all presidents of financial and other committees were noticed, formed recently to work closely with the Assembly Secretariat to ensure the efficient work area of their respective committees.
The speaker said that while presiding over a meeting of the presidents of all the 9 house committees, it was called to discuss the functioning prescribed for them under the rules of process and business in the assembly of the J&A Assembly.
During the meeting, the speaker informed the chairperson about his roles and responsibilities. He emphasized on ensuring effective coordination and cooperation between government departments and committees for their efficient, quick, transparent and result -oriented functioning.
The Chairman emphasized the chairman to play an active role to ensure that our government’s executive branch be held accountable to its functions. “You have to promote the culture of accountability and transparency in governance, give citizens a platform to give voice to their concerns, they asked them further.
He confirmed that the Assembly Secretariat would provide them all possible assistance. He hoped that the AG’s office, GAD, law, justice and parliamentary affairs departments would not only assist the committees, but would also play an important role in implementing the recommendations of the committees.
The speaker insisted on maintaining the dignity and decoration of the committees.
Chairman of the committee on public accounts, Sham Lal Sharma, chairman of the committee on estimates, chairman of the committee on public undertakings, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Chairman of the Ethics Committee, Surjit Singh, Chairman of the Committee on Privileges, Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, Chairman of Soja. The chairman of the committee on Masudi and petitions, Pirzada Farooq Ahmed Shah was present on the occasion and guided his suggestions to make these committees more effective.
Commissioner Secretary, General Administration Department, M Raju; Officers of Secretary, Legislative Assembly, Manoj Pandita, Deputy Accounts General J&K, Special Secretary Law and Assembly Secretariat were present in the meeting.
