Achbal police, drug officials sealed five pharmacies for violation

Anantnag | June 2, KDC: In order to deal with the increasing threat to drug abuse, Achbal Police in collaboration with the Drugs Control Department, carried out a series of coordinated raids in several areas in Anantnag today, targeting pharmacies violating drug sales rules.

As part of the joint operation, more than 20 inspections were done in Achbal, Trahpu, Kanganhall and Telwani. Officials rejected the operation of five medical establishments, which have been found in violation of sales-related license criteria and rules and record-molding of drugs that make habit.

Pharmacies forbidden from the operation include Hope Chemists and Druggist (Achball), Mushtaq Medical Store (Achball), Friends Pharmacy (Trahpu), Rafiq Medical Store and Ahammad Medical Store (Telwani). Officials cited non-transportation with the absence of appropriate sales records and the terms of the license in the form of significant violations.

Despite the crackdown, inspection also revealed to encourage signs of compliance in several outlets, most medical shops were found to be equipped with computerized billing systems and monitoring setup.

A senior official of the Drugs Control Department said that such joint efforts aim to curb the misuse of prescription drugs and send a strong message to the violator. The official said, “Public health and safety is our top priority. Any pharmacy involved in immoral practices will have to face strict legal action,” the official said.

Achbal police officers reiterated their commitment to continue such operations and called for more community cooperation in identifying sources of illegal drug distribution. (KDC)
