CM Omar Abdullah comes to Gulmarg Club for high-level government meeting

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reached Gulmarg Club today to preside over a high-level government meeting, focused on reviewing the developmental initiative in the center area.

Welcoming the Chief Minister’s decision to hold a meeting in Gulmarg, MLA Pirzada Farooq Ahmed Shah said that the step sends a strong and positive message about the stability and hospitality of Jammu and Kashmir across the country.

Speaking to ANI, Shah said, “I am very grateful to the Chief Minister that he chose Gulmarg for the meeting. Chief Minister will review the development work in Jammu and Kashmir. We welcome tourists Jammu and Kashmir. Gulmarg has always welcomed tourists … A positive message will go across the country.”

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met with major visits and travel operators from Maharashtra and Gujarat at a hotel here to revive tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, which was severely affected after the Pahgam terror attack.

About 60 tour operators from Maharashtra and Gujarat participated, which aims to build confidence among stakeholders and indicate that Kashmir is open and ready to welcome tourists.

Talking to the media after the meeting, CM said, “We were not even expecting them to turn away. They have all come here on their own. I cannot claim that Jammu and Kashmir government brought him here. They came here on their own. About 60 major tour operators from Maharashtra and Gujarat have come here.

Abdullah reached the site riding a bicycle in a gesture to promote environmentally friendly travel. He posted a picture on X and wrote, “This evening took advantage of being in Pahalgam for a short time to cycle around the city.”

In addition, he also talked about the construction of a memorial in Basaron for the Pahalgam terror attack. “… We have been saying from the beginning that we will build a memorial in Basaron, Pahalgam in memory of those 26 people. We will never forget it … It was decided in a cabinet meeting, which was held in Pahgam a few hours ago. PWD has been authorized to give official approval.

The Jammu and Kashmir cabinet held its meeting in Pahalgam, said that it was a “clear message” for the terrorists that “enemies of peace would never determine our resolve.”

A month after the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, a cabinet meeting was held, in which 26 people, including a Nepali National, were killed brutally by terrorists.

The Chief Minister said that the cabinet also discussed tourism in the valley, as it is a major source of revenue for the local people in Pahalgam. CM Abdullah said that a group of tour operators from Maharashtra is also in Pahalgam and will also visit Srinagar. (AI)
