Nekan demands the restoration of the “special status” of Jammu and Kashmir, the Pahgam condemns the terrorist attack

The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Wednesday confirmed “unwavering commitment to restore the special status of Jammu and Kashmir” and condemned the Pahgam attack killing 26 people, including a young resident.

The party’s functioning committee met at the headquarters of the party under the chairmanship of the party president Farooq Abdullah and unanimously adopted seven proposals addressing issues of political, security and civil rights.

“The Working Committee unanimously confirmed its unwavering commitment to restore the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. The committee reiterated that it is central for the aspirations and dignity of the people and should be addressed without further delay and we will continue to fight for its restoration,” resolution on the issue of J-K’s special situation.

In August 2019, the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi canceled Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, effectively abolished the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir and dominated the state in two center areas – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Condemning the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and continued shelling from across the border, the first proposal expressed deep grief over the loss of civil life and paid tribute to the workers and workers of the deceased party.

“The Working Committee strongly condemned the horrific Basaron attack claiming the lives of 26 innocent persons including a young Kashmiri, Syed Adil Hussain Shah. The Executive Committee also demanded immediate reinstatement of the state, referring to the assurance made in Parliament, “The Working Committee urged the Government of India to immediately restore Jammu and Kashmir, as promised on the floor of Parliament and repeatedly echoed in public domains and also committed by the Constitution Bench.”

The committee also welcomed the announcement of a “ceasefire” and called upon the two countries to “maintain peace and explore long -lasting, peaceful solutions to end the violence.”

The resolution is mentioned that the party reiterated its commitment to its manifesto, asked to “justice, peace and the rights of the people through democratic means”.

Accepting public solidarity, the committee praised the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to show mercy to the trapped tourists and unevenly reject violence.

This warned the government against the tasks that can deepen isolation, such as “arbitrary arrest, harassment of youth, targeted use of bulldozers and threats of media.”

It further warned that “arbitrary arrests, harassment of youth, targeted use of bulldozers, and intimidating the voices of legitimate media will only separate those who have stood firmly against peace and violence.”

In his final resolution, the neck condemned the oppression of Kashmiris across India, especially students and traders asked the state governments to protect their rights and ensure their safety.

“The Working Committee expressed serious concern over the reports of the oppression generated by students, traders, and the residents of Jammu and Kashmir in various parts of the country. It was strongly condemned by recent incidents.
