The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has started sharing non-individual, anonymous data with the base dashboard on the open government data platform, data.gov.in, according to an statement by the Ministry of Electronics and IT.
The move aims to further promote transparency, research and data-operated policy.
The dataset released by the Chief Data Officer (CDO) and UIDAI’s Deputy Director General of UIDAI includes an insight collected on Aadhaar enrollment, update and authentication patterns classified by geography, age group and other relevant parameters.
By making these non-individual and anonymous datasets accessible, UIDAI aims to support educational research, innovation in digital services and collaborative development.
The minister said that this initiative opens new avenues for evidence-based policy-making and technological innovation, which leads to the transparency of UIDAI, commitment to public good and safe data regime.
The ministry said, “This evidence aligns with a wide government vision of promoting a policy-based policy and maximizing the value of open data for the public. It is expected to further promote digital inclusion and governance efficiency,” the ministry said.
India’s 12-conductive unique identification number Aadhaar has re-shaped the country’s approach to identity verification and service distribution since its establishment in 2009. The program was launched with a mission to provide a reliable, digitally verified identity to each resident using minimum demographic and biometric data.
The strong authentication structure of the base addresses the long -standing issues of fraud and resource leakage by eliminating duplicate and fake identity. This ambitious initiative has increased in the world’s largest digital identity program, which, anytime, anywhere, enables certification, and facilitates transparent, targeted distribution of services, benefits and subsidies.
The establishment of India’s Unique Identity Authority (UIDAI) took a significant step forward to oversee the issue of Aadhaar. In 2016, UIDAI achieved a legal status under the Aadhaar (Financial and other subsidy, profit, and target distribution of services) Act, 2016, further strengthened its role in India’s rule. (AI)
