SIA Files SURANKOTE Chargesheet in Temple Grenade Attack Case

Web Desk, 19/05/2025

The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir (SIA) has filed a charge sheet regarding the grenade attack on a temple in Surkot on November 15, 2023.

According to a statement issued here, the charge sheet has been filed against two persons, named Abdul Aziz, son of late Abdul Rahman, Hari Safeda, resident of Surkote, District Ponch, and Nazir Ahmed alias Naziru alias Ali Khan, son of late Khurshid Ahmed, a Pakistan-affected terrorist, who is also a Pakistan-affected terrorist.

The investigation has revealed that Abdul Aziz attacked the instructions received from Nazir Ahmed, who are currently working from Pakistan. Nazir Ahmed participated in Pakistan in 2001, where he joined the accused terrorist outfit Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and later joined the Jammu and Kashmir Ghaznavi Force (JKGF).

At the end of 2022, Nazir Ahmed re-established contact with his relative Abdul Aziz, using Pakistan-based numbers, through an encrypted messaging application. During this time, he admitted radical and Aziz to HM/JKGF, making him instructions to carry out grenade attacks in district Poonch to carry forward the agenda and ideology of the terrorist organization.

Nazir Ahmed not only recruited and recruited Abdul Aziz, but also supplied them with grenades and detailed instructions for execution of the attack through encrypted communication channels.

The investigation reveals a comprehensive conspiracy by Pakistan-proposed Hezbul Mujahideen to destabilize the center region of Jammu and Kashmir. The purpose of this Act was the goal of spreading terror, provoking communal violence and reducing public peace by creating fear among the common people.

The charge sheet filed underlines the unwavering resolution of the SIA to eliminate the terrorist network and protect the peace and security of Jammu and Kashmir.
